The Final Shutdown
The Final Shutdown: LG Smartphone Update Servers to Go Dark in 2025
Remember when LG phones were everywhere? From wild dual-screen setups to ultra-wide cameras before they were cool, LG was one of the most creative names in the smartphone game.
But in 2021, LG called it quits on making phones. While they promised to keep updates going for a while, that time is almost up.
On June 30, 2025, LG will shut down its update servers for good.
What Does This Mean for You If You’re Still Using an LG Phone?
- 🚫 No more Android updates
- 🔒 No more security patches
- ❌ No bug fixes or new features
Basically, your phone will still work, but it’ll slowly become less secure and more outdated. Apps may stop working properly, and any vulnerabilities won’t get patched.
So if you’re still rocking an LG device, it might be time to start thinking about a switch.
Don’t wait until something breaks — better to be ahead of the curve than stuck with an unprotected phone.
RIP to a brand that wasn’t afraid to take risks. 👋
